This is a question most of people, who are ready to install a security system at their premises, are asking at our professional business Paktron CCTV Company in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

We decided to make the answer online for everyone. Our technical staff always guide new customers that both i.e. hard wired and wireless security cameras have their pros and cons.

Wireless cameras are truly not beneficial till the end of the electricity load-shedding in Pakistan, because you have to provide power to all cameras through UPS or centralized power system so wiring is required to power all cameras for their non-stop working.

If you have already UPS-enabled power sockets near to the locations where you want to install cameras then this a other case. :)

There is no fully wireless camera up till now because they always need power for their working and for their charging in case of battery powered cameras.

If you want one or two cameras, but not more than two, then you can go for wireless as it requires minimum wiring for power, and are cost effective.

Quick Pros and Cons of Wired and Wireless Cameras:

Pros of Wireless Cameras

Easy To Install

User Friendly

Cost effective (in some cases)

Remote Access (as they are IP Based now)

Cons of Wireless Cameras

Must be Installed in WiFi Signal Range

Need battery backup in case of power outage

Expensive

Signal Interference

Can be hacked or Signal Jammed

There are two types of wired Cameras IP Cameras (Ethernet Cable Based) & Analog Cameras (Co-Axial Cable Based)

Pros of Wired Cameras

Jamming is Difficult
Large area can be covered effectively
Independent of IP network (between cameras and DVR)
Widely used all over
Requires only one UPS enabled electric socket
Remote surveillance over Mobile phone and PC
DVR can be configured on IP Network

Cons of Wired Cameras

Requires professional installation
Installation and configuration needs more time
Wiring is required
Can be hacked over internet

Due to electricity energy crises in Pakistan, the alternate power energy solutions are highly required, people are also looking for alternate energy sources.

As solar is one of the best alternate power energy source, so investing in it will be profitable in future, Pakistan is the country which is blessed with super solar energy, thus; it ts the need of time to plan to harvest this natural energy properly.

Coming straight to the point, Solar inverters or Hybrid inverters, are designed to use the solar energy source as well as utility source (WAPDA). In this guide you will know about the working, settings, setup and installation of Hybrid Solar Inverter.

Working / Design:

Two main categories of hybrid inverters are Grid-Tie Solar Inverter and Off-Grid Solar Inverter. We are discussing about the Off-Grid solar inverter because they are simple and a wide variety of them are available in local market.

They are sub-categorized into modified sine wave inverter (low cost) and pure sine wave inverter (their cost is high). If you need to run motor load such as Water Pump, AC, Fridge or other types of appliances which contains compressor / motor then Pure-Sine-Wave inverters are recommended. For Fans, Air Coolers, Fluorescent Lamps (Energy Savers), Bulbs and Tube Lights Modified-Sine-Wave will also work.

Working and design of Hybrid Inverters are same as normal Inverter / UPS, the only difference is that their input supports more than one source such as Battery, Main (WAPDA), Generator or Wind Turbine.

In the settings or menu you can configure the priority of input source: such as Solar First, (WAPDA) Utility First or Solar and (WAPDA) Utility Source. The setting of charging source for Battery: Charge Battery from Solar only, Charge Battery from (WAPDA) Utility only or the combination of both.
-------------------------------------------

Yes you can RUN AC, Fridge, Iron, Fans, Lights, TV, Washing Machine, Water PUMP or any other electric appliance with solar power.

Power Saving:

Power, Energy or Cost Saving is the point for which i have explained all above.

Solar is not cheap than WAPDA

Yes, that's true, due to high cost of Deep-Cycle Batteries and Solar Batteries in Pakistani market, solar energy will cost you more than WAPDA (the Main or Utility provider in Pakistan).

Just assume you have installed 500-Watt Solar System with back-up time (12-hour in case of stand-alone solar system and 3.5 hour in case of hybrid solar system) and your inverter's efficiency is above 85 percent.

For 500-Watt stand-alone solar system you need minimum 600-Amp Battery Bank (four Batteries of 150-Amp each) and to charge this battery bank and to provide the power to connected load in day, if sun is available for 10-hour (assuming 7-AM to 5-PM for summer in Pakistan), you need minimum 900-Watt A-Grade solar panels. Enjoy power holidays in cloudy weather!

To run the same load with Hybrid Solar Inverter, 200-Amp Battery bank (two batteries of 100-Amp each) is must and to charge the battery bank and to provide the power the connected AC load at same time minimum 900-Watt solar panel is needed. Charging of Battery with generator or WAPDA source in cloudy weather.

Long backup time needs more batteries

Now just calculate the cost of Batteries in both cases. 150-Amp deep cycle dry battery will cost you Rs. 26,000/- approximately. If your system is designed and installed by qualified professionals your battery bank may lasts for more than four years. For stand alone system only the battery bank will cost you more than Rs. 110 per day for stand (including cloudy days and short sun time in winters).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For hybrid system the cost you save from batteries will payable to WAPDA for charging the batteries in night or in absence of Sun.

On the other hand, one unit of WAPDA's costs you Rs. 8 (with subsidy including taxes). To run the same load (500-watts continuously run for 24-hours) on WAPDA for 24-hours will cost you Rs. 96 per day.

Paktronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11245464330177640105noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7076277701643839956.post-44694274851844401232016-04-26T03:26:00.003+05:002023-05-04T00:51:54.044+05:00DC Inverter AC Power Consumption and Connection with UPS

Now a days DC inverters AC units are setting trends in Pakistani market, the AC manufactures are targeting the customers by claiming these AC's as "Energy Saving AC".

We have published about the DC Inverter AC Technology back in 2012, when Dawlance launched Pakistan's first DC Inverter AC.

If you want to know about the DC inverter technology and how it works, you are recommended to go through this article (linked above).

And know, in this article we are going to discuss about the power consumption of DC inverter AC and which type of UPS is best for it.

DC Inverter AC Power Consumption:

The amperes of these ACs varies according to the temperature you have set on your AC. If, when you start the AC, the room temperature 40ºC and the temperature set on AC is 26ºC then AC will work on full power or full amperes until the desired temperature is achieved by it. After achieving the desired temperature the AC will start maintaining that temperature by lowering its compressor motor speed and start consuming minimum power and this is the true power saving mode.

In simple words the speed of DC Inverter AC's compressor depends upon the temperature. On low speed compressor consumes minimum power.

DC Inverter AC Operation on UPS:

Yes, due to its low power consumption, the DC inverter AC can be easily operated on UPS, Pure-Sine-Wave UPS is recommended. Solar UPS or Hybrid Solar Inverters usually have pure sine wave output.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want to run your AC on UPS or Inverter then always connect it with a ups with 50% higher power rating. For 1-Ton AC use at least 1000-Watts UPS for 1.5-Ton AC use 2000-Watts UPS and for 2-Ton AC go for 3000-Watt UPS.

Always try to put the minimum load on the UPS on which the AC is connected. The more load on UPS or battery the lesser its life.

Yes, that's true, due to high cost of Deep-Cycle Batteries and Solar Batteries in Pakistani market, solar energy will cost you more than WAPDA (the Main or Utility provider in Pakistan).

Assume you have installed 500-Watt Solar System with back-up time (14-hour in case of stand-alone solar system and 3.5 hour in case of hybrid solar system) and your inverter's efficiency is above 85 percent.

Stand-Alone Solar System: 500-Watt for 24-Hour (14-Hour backup time + 10 Sunny Hours)

For 500-Watt stand-alone solar system you need minimum 800-Amp Battery Bank (Eight Batteries of 100-Amp each) and to charge this battery bank and to supply power to connected load in day, if sun is available for 10-hour (assuming 7-AM to 5-PM for summer in Pakistan), you need minimum 1000-Watt A-Graded solar panel bank. Enjoy power holidays in cloudy weather!

Hybrid Solar System: 500-Watts continuously run for 24-Hours

To run the same load with Hybrid Solar Inverter, 200-Amp Battery bank (two batteries of 100-Amp each) is must and to charge the battery bank and to provide the power the connected AC load at same time, minimum 900-Watt solar panel bank is needed. 200-Amp battery will provide 3.5 hours of maximum back-up time in case of load shedding. Charging of Battery with generator or WAPDA in cloudy weather.

Long backup time needs more batteries

Now just calculate the cost of Batteries in both cases. 100-Amp deep cycle dry battery will cost you Rs. 18,000/- approximately. If your system is designed and installed by qualified professionals your battery bank may lasts for more than four years. For stand alone system only the battery bank will cost you more than Rs. 120 per day based on four-year time period. (including cloudy days and short sun time in winters).

Initial solar system, installation or maintenance cost is not included in above calculation.

For hybrid system the cost you save from batteries will be payable to WAPDA for charging the batteries, in load-shedding, in night or in absence of Sun (cloudy weather) .

On the other hand, one unit of WAPDA's costs you Rs. 9 (with subsidy including taxes). To run the same load (500-watts continuously run for 24-hours) on WAPDA for 24-hours will cost you Rs. 108 per day.

Rs. 12 difference per day.

<span style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: large;">The ways to save your WAPDA electricity bill by utilizing solar energy system

There are the ways to save you electricity bill cost by properly harvesting solar energy. The two most cost effective methods are mentioned below:

Use 12-Volts DC System:

Everything is DC operated, DC Battery, DC Solar Panel, Solar Charge Controller and DC Load including DC Fans, DC Lights. No inversion / conversion losses.

A full sized DC Ceiling Fan is of 30-Watt.

100-Amp battery and 300-Watt panel is sufficient to handle 100-watt DC load for whole day. Cost you Rs. 12 per day.

Hybrid Solar Inverter with minimum Battery Bank and Maximum Solar Panels:

Use small battery bank only to utilize the solar energy in sunny hours, use inverter as normal UPS in night. This is the ideal use of hybrid inverter, low in cost and highly cost effective.

155-Amp battery is enough for this system. 500-watt AC load requires 50-AMP DC current to run via inverter, so 600-Watt solar panel will best in this situation.

3G is the third generation of wireless communication technology. The 3G network only enables to access high speed internet for the best in line mobile internet experience.

Four Telecom Companies of Pakistan are going to launch 3G and 4G services officially on 10th of May, 2014. You can avail Free 3G Trials before the official launch.

Here are some Technical Details:

Difference between 2G, 3G and 4G ?

4G is a successor technology of 3G technology and 4G provides more speed than 3G.

3G is different from 2G. The 3G network will run on best in class HSPA+ technology to give subscribers access to high speed internet, video calls and multimedia experience within 3G coverage areas while 2G network will run on EDGE or GPRS.

What can we do on 3G Networks ?

We can avail the followings benefits of 3G:

High speed internet access

Video Call

Live Streaming

Live TV

Live broadcasting

Video sharing and much more!

Internet Speed on 3G Network:

on 3G Networks, speed varies with a number of factors, including the device, coverage area, network traffic and number of users accessing the 3G network at a particular point of time.

3G Speed (difference between WCDMA and HSPA):

WCDMA or R99 devices are 3G devices but support low 3G speeds. HSPA devices are high speed devices.

Video Call:

Both caller party and called party handset should support video call function. If both have such type of handsets then they will be able to make video calls in Pakistan. Skype is an alternative of direct video call.

What if you are out of 3G Coverage Area ?

When you move out of 3G coverage, you will be transferred seamlessly to GPRS or EDGE depending on service availability. You will experience slower data speed on 2G, GPRS and EDGE.

Access 3G internet on Laptops:

You can use 3G to WiFi routers to access 3G and 4G internet on laptops, computers and other WiFi supported devices.

3G Supported Handsets:

Technically, R99, HSPA and HSPA+ supported handsets are compatible with the 3G network.

How to activate 3G ?

Activation is not required you just need to configure your handset to receive 3G / 4G signals. 3G is on by default in Pakistan. To use 3G, you need to be in a 3G coverage area and have a 3G supported device.

EVO is Pakistan's first 3G internet service by Pakistan Telecommunication Company. PTCL EVO is Pakistan's first 3G EV-DO Rev.A / Rev.B CDMA network

PTCL is offering EVO Nitro (9.3 Mbps), EVO Wingle (9.3 Mbps), EVO 3.1 (3.1 Mbps) and Vfone Internet (153 Kbps) under its 3G wireless internet services portfolio.

Today I am going to share my experience of speeding-up EVO internet connection settings without using any external antenna.

There are several ways of speeding-up EVO network speed comprises of external antennas and etc.

This method will help you to increase your internet browsing speed on EVO just by changing your DSN server address.

Speed-Up PTCL EVO Internet:

Just change your PTCL' EVO DSN to Google's Public DNS.

How To ?

Plug in your EVO device, GoTo Settings, GoTo NetWork and click on Use DNS then enter the following DNS IP Addresses.

Google's Public DNS

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

Try it and you will feel a difference in your browsing speed as well as your downloading and video streaming speed.

PTCL EVO External Antenna:

If you are not getting good signal strength then you can use external antenna.

First check the signal strength on your roof top or in open area (or where you want to install antenna) without using any antenna. If you are receiving good signal power on roof without any external antenna then you can install antenna at that place and extend / connect your antenna to EVO via cable.

If you are not getting enough signals at the place (without antenna) where you want to install antenna then don't use antenna it will not help you.

You can also share your experience of speeding-up your EVO Internet in the comments.

Paktronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11245464330177640105noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7076277701643839956.post-48031184748900036842014-03-11T00:53:00.000+05:002014-03-11T01:05:08.073+05:00PTCL settings for EVO supported Kasda KW5815U 3G + Wi-Fi Router

These settings and configuration will help you to set up your GPRS, EDGE or 3G USB dongle device with 3G Wi-Fi Router.

In Pakistan a variety of 3G routers are available in market, the famous manufacturing brands are D-Link, Tenda, ZTE and Tp-Link.

For GPRS / EDGE networks including Telenor, Ufone, Warid, Zong and Mobilink subscribers usually use USB dongle modems or data sticks for internet connectivity and sharing. PTCL's EVO subscribers, who want to share their EVO internet connection, are searching new ways for it and upon subscribers' request we decided create this page.

These settings are for simple EVO USB dongles such as ZTE AC271, ZTE AC2736, ZTE AC2726, ZTE AC2766, ZTE AC2746 and etc. Not applied for EVO Wingle as it has built in Wi-Fi wireless LAN.

So if you want to share your 3G internet connection follow the steps:

Buy a 3G USB Router

Insert your 3G Modem or Dongle into router's USB port

Configure the router using EVO dial-up number, evo user name and evo password
